Cheese Wedding Cakes
Cheese wedding cakes - or celebration cakes - have really taken off over the last couple of years. People choose them because they want something a bit different, because they aren't wild about fruit cake ... or because they just love cheese and want to get some visual value out of the cheese course. Decorate a cheese cake well and it'll be stunning, the centre of attention.
So why should you choose us to supply your Cheese Wedding Cake?
- We're passionate about cheese, as you can see. If you're going to get your wedding cheese from someone, they need to know the field, and we do!
- We have a range of good off-the-peg cakes in various sizes - click on any photo to find out more.
- If you can't see quite what you want, email me: I'll see if we can help with a bespoke cake.
- We know that shape and proportions matter if a cake is to look really good, and so we take a lot of trouble over design. Browse the cakes to the right and you'll see what I mean ...
Decoration Packs
Introduced in June 2010: colour-themed packs for decorating your cheese wedding cake. Available in pink, green, yellow or blue.
Colour-Themed Cakes
These are built around a particular colour scheme. We started with the all-white Haldon, and then added a 'baby' version, Smalldon. The black-and-white Eighty-Eight has been really successful, and we've since added Smeatons Tower (red-and-white). There are various options with each of these, and a decoration pack is available too. Gold Hill is based around cheeses which are orangey-gold in colour.
Cakes For 50 Or Less
Our smallest cakes are for small gatherings of 30-40: Topsham, Tyneham, Tintagel, and Harford Bridge. Very cute they are too.
Cakes For 50-75
Wonwell Beach, with it's heart-shaped Godminster on top, has a lot of fans, whilst the rustic Lundy is a favourite of mine. Zennor makes prominent use of the very striking Yarg, whilst another, quite different, way to go - stylistically - would be with a Small Eighty-Eight or the Small Smeatons. All-white can be very striking, too, in which case try Smalldon.
Cakes For 75-100
Take your pick: do you want to go dramatic and theatrical, with the Eighty-Eight or Smeatons Tower? Or rustic and informal, with Cerne or Helford?
Cakes for 100-120
Haytor is a good starting point: also take a look at Athelney, Cerne Giant 2 and Gold Hill. The all-white Haldon has a classic, elegant, look. Latest addition is Dartington, first made for a Cheese Shed family wedding in November 2009.
Cakes for 120+
We've created larger versions of some cakes to suit bigger numbers, so check out Big Zennor, Cerne Giant 1 and the Large Blue Eighty-Eight. And if you want something for more than 140, contact me!
