Taking his inspiration from the French pineau, master distiller Julian Temperley mixes cider brandy with apple juice, which is then matured in oak barrels. The result is The Somerset Pomona (after the Roman goddess of 'fruitful abundance') and it makes for a full-bodied warming digestif which is so good with cheese that it could replace Port - so in Blue Moon we team it up with some of our favourite blue cheeses.
Blue Moon offers two choices of blue cheese. At River Cottage Festival people raved about the combination of Pomona and Cornish Blue, so one option is a whole 500g truckle of that. Or ... if you fancy a bit of contrast, opt for three 200g wedges of Cornish Blue, Beenleigh Blue and Dorset Blue Vinny. A box of Rick Stein's sea salt flavoured Savoury Oat Biscuits is also included.
