Monbazillac Domaine de Grange Neuve
Utterly luscious - a cross between barley sugar and orange marmalade. This extremely elegant wine from the home of dessert wines Monbazillac has a well deserved reputation. It's a blend of three grape varieties, St Emillon, Sauvignon and a little Muscadelle. The naturally occurring sugar means it's sweet, but not overtly so.
At the heart of Perigord, the vineyard of Domaine de Grange Neuve is located in Pomport near Bergerac: it covers the sides of the valley of the Dordogne. Belonging to the Pichon and Castaing family, the winery has grown from a small farm with just 4 hectares of vines in 1898, to a vineyard of 70 hectares today. Dedicated to making wine that respects tradition whilst not neglecting technological advances that have occurred both in the cultivation of vines and in winemaking techniques, today the property is still run by three generations of this family.
