Gevrik

from £1.84

A full fat goat's cheese, Gevrik has a clean, fresh, nutty taste.  It develops a creamy, melting texture as it matures. Made in Trevarrion on the North Cornish coast, this cheese is a really tiny 70g, so consider buying several! It's available singly or in a box of seven.

Cornish Country Larder

Based at Trevarrian in North Cornwall, Cornish Country Larder was set up in 1996 by John Gaylard, a local goat farmer. He, along with a couple of other family members started making a hard goats cheese called Village Green, but soon progressed into soft cheese, using both cows and goats milk. The site only uses Cornish cows' milk, and goats' milk from the West Country where they have three dedicated farmers.

Cornish Country Larder has been very successful and it's fair to say that this isn't really an 'artisan' business in the sense of small-scale production, though CCL would say that the cheese is traditionally made and in fact still very much hand made; ripening is also done in the traditonal way. In January 2011 CCL was bought by Milk Link but still retains family involvement on the cheese making side.
