The UK's No. 3 Cheesemonger!
Welcome to the Cheese Shed, recently ranked as the no. 3 cheese shop in the country, according to the Observer Food Monthly magazine! And that's on top of our appearance on the telly with Gary Rhodes in UKTV's Local Hero show, where we were regional finalists. It's enough to turn a cheesemongers head.
What we're about ...
... is celebrating the artisan cheese of the West country, based on our enthusiasm for the great range of cheeses produced around us, many of which are up there with the best in the world. We're particularly keen to include artisan cheeses, coming from small makers using traditional methods. And we work really hard to get all the 'other stuff' right: customer service, delivery, presentation. If you're an existing customer, you'll know what we mean - if not, follow this link to the UKTV site, where you can find lots of people saying lots of lovely things about us ...
New cheeses from Menallack
Menallack Farm, near Penryn, is amazing! I lose track of how many different cheeses they make. It could be 14. Or possibly 16. Anyway ... hard, soft, blue, goat, sheep, flavoured cheeses, you name it, they make it. They call themselves 'Cornwall's best kept secret' with good reason, as most of their cheese is sold just within the county. It was high time we offered more than just the Menallack and Nanterrow which have been on the site since the start so, after a trip down there a month ago to meet John Minson and right-hand-woman Jess, we now have more to offer.
In a Cheese Shed first, these delicious soft cheeses are all made using mixed cows' milk and sheeps' milk. Check out Mrs Finn, Treverva Green and - just a bit different again - the marvellous Heligan.
Fathers Day approaches (Sun 15th June) ...
... and of course All Dads Like Cheese. So why not have a look at our Fathers Day Box?
I think you'll like it. More to the point, I think he will.
Cheese Shed on Facebook
In pursuit of world domination of the Westcountry cheese sector, the Cheese Shed is now listed on Facebook. You're all busy people, obviously. I know that. You're far too preoccupied with top level this-that-and-the-other to have time to visit this page. This one here. It's fine, really. But just in case you were at a loose end and felt like going to this page - this one - and signing up as a fan of The Cheese Shed, that would be marvellous.
But you're busy. Of course you are.
