Cheese Shed opinion is divided on the chutney issue. Gill is from the why-would-you-mess-about-with-a-beautiful-piece of-cheese school of thought. On the other hand, I am a fully paid-up and unapologetic chutney devotee. So if you feel your cheese needs a bit of this to go with it, you have at least one of us on your side!
We're offering five from Tiverton-based Highfield Preserves. Choose from:
West Country Cider: Sweet apple chutney with local cider, sultanas and raisins. Wonderful with good cheddar.
Kitchen Garden: This dark, rich mixture of vegetables, fruits and spices works well with farmhouse cheese, pork pies and cold ham.
Farmhouse: A hearty chutney, full of flavour, with texture and bite.
Red Onion Marmalade: Caramelised red onions and balsamic vinegar cooked very slowly to produce this perfect accompaniment for pate and cheese.
Sweet Red Pepper: Sun-ripened sweet red peppers together with a hint of basil and spices makes this a vibrant relish.
All jars are 280g.
