Here in The Cheese Shed we're tried to go for the very top quality. Guaranteed non-bland! So: here we have cheddar from the 'big three' Somerset makers, Montgomery's, Keen's and Westcombe Dairy. These are classic hand-made cheddars, long-matured in muslin cloth, and have together formed a 'Slow Food Presidia' dedicated to preserving ultra-traditional cheddar. From Devon, Quicke's is also a traditional cheese and very highly regarded. We have their Vintage and Extra Mature cheddars, plus an Oak Smoked version. I've long been partial to Denhay cheddar from Dorset, and their boxed 2 kilo Dorset Drum is just the thing for a party or very special gift.
In addition there's a marvellous new(ish) cheese - the Vintage Organic Cheddar from Godminster. A particular favourite of ours, this is a powerful, classy cheese that also looks great in its wax coating (is it red? is it purple?) and makes a great gift, especially in its heart-shaped incarnation.

Cheddar fans: we're happy to indulge your obsession, but why not try an alternative hard cows' cheese once in a while? There are lots here - how about Devon Oke or Menallack? And then of course there's cheddar with a twist: Green's Goat Cheddar ...

A selection of cheeses had been sent to me from The Cheese Shed for my birthday as a gift. All I can say is thay are beyond fantastic, the cheese has to be the best I have ever had, so much so that in a matter of days it was all gone!
